HABSHAN GENERAL CONTRACTING INC. (referred to as “Habshan” or “the Company”) was established on March 12, 2024, in Ontario as a wholly owned subsidiary of Habshan Electromechanical Contracting L.L.C.
The Canadian Company will focus on domestic recruitment while leveraging its Parent Company’s extensive network of general labour, skilled tradespeople, and supervisors from the UAE. Habshan will target industries such as construction, manufacturing, mining, and oil & gas, addressing labour shortages in these sectors. Initially, the Company will operate as a recruitment agency but aims to evolve into a full-fledged employment agency similar to its Parent Company. This transition will involve navigating stringent regulatory and immigration requirements. Under the recruitment model, Habshan’s clients will be responsible for complying with the IRCC’s LMIA process.
As part of its recruitment process, Habshan will screen candidates, including evaluating whether skilled trades workers meet the criteria for Skilled Trades Ontario’s Trade Equivalency Assessment. This process involves verifying the required number of hours of relevant experience and providing detailed information on the assessment.
Habshan will establish its head office in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), opting for a small office or co-working space near its target audience. The GTA hosts many of Canada’s manufacturing and construction companies, particularly medium and large-sized employers. With significant growth in the region, including a provincial goal of adding 1.5 million new homes within the next decade and major development projects like new subway lines and GO Train extensions, the area offers substantial opportunities. The region’s diversity also facilitates the transition of international workers, reducing cultural shock. Additionally, the province's efforts to increase the number of skilled tradespeople, including the creation of Skilled Trades Ontario in 2021, support a streamlined apprenticeship process.
Habshan’s strategic goals include evolving from a recruitment agency to a comprehensive employment agency. This growth strategy involves leveraging the Parent Company’s expertise, extensive candidate network, and industry connections to address critical labour shortages in Canada’s key sectors. By focusing on quality recruitment and seamless integration of international workers, Habshan aims to become a trusted partner for Canadian employers seeking skilled labour solutions.
